The Pent House

Sri Om Niyalam

Mr. Mahendar Goud’s classic contemporary penthouse, Sri Om Niyalam, is designed by Shruti Jain of Interiors by Shruti.

As we approach Sri Om Niyalam, a large Stone Mural Buddha greets us at the entrance. Painted in simple colours, the carved stone artwork covers the outer wall from floor to ceiling lending a rustic quality to the setting.

Inside, we are greeted by a spacious living room lined with clear walls. The focus of the living room is the Italian Marble cladding on the TV Unit that offers an excellent contrast with the rest of the room. The dining area carries a POP motif overlaid with a metallic paint finish. In the kitchen, only simple acrylic materials were used to highlight the theme of food.

Adjacent to the kitchen area is the family’s Pooja Room. CNC design elements were used to decorate the door for this room, while a backlit, intricately cut stone veneer was utilized for the inner wall panel.

Sri Om Niyalam is built on two levels: the 5th floor residential area with a square footage of 2,530 and the 6th floor, which houses the gym and bar, is 260 Sq. ft. in area.

The residential area consists of three bedrooms.

In the Master Bedroom, the king-size bed is of prime focus. A fabric headboard has been installed at the head of the bed, with profile lights placed on either side to act as night lamps for reading. A spacious sofa is present by the window. Next to the bedroom is a walk-in wardrobe with a full-body mirror placed in it to make the room look more spacious. A miniature Bani Thani painting from Kishangarh, Rajasthan has also been installed in the wardrobe to symbolize the Sringara Rasa (romantic love). The bathroom is another great work of design art with lavish travertine stone tiles on the walls, while herringbone pattern wooden finish tiles adorn the walls of the shower area.

With the Son’s Bedroom, as per his suggestions, the room has a black, white and grey theme, and is designed to reflect his love of cricket. His cricket bat is placed above his study area, while the bedback area has a brick pattern wall with a poster of him swinging his cricket bat. A special bay window was also installed in the room because of his love for reading. The walk-in-wardrobe in his room has a large mirror shaped like Ray-Ban glasses with a chest of drawers underneath it. The bath area also has a black, white and grey theme.

The Guest Bedroom is kept simple, with the same design elements matching the ceiling to the headboards and reaching all the way to the wardrobe.

The connecting staircase between the two floors has black granite on the stairs and thematic mismatched lights on the walls. The staircase leads to the gym/bar area which is sparsely decorated to give it a sense of power and purpose. The bar area contains a wooden trolley as well as easy comfy chairs with trays attached to them for convenience. Another noticeable design choice is the specially installed architectural day light windows built into the far wall. The gym has a rustic metallic look and a wall-to-wall 3-panel mirror-glass covering the background.

The final highlight of Om Sri Niyalam is the spacious terrace space which is accessible through the living room area. It has an exquisite gazebo area from where you can get a beautiful view of the city. The setting is furnished with perfect outdoor seating arrangements, and the walls are lined with profile lights for the tile panels to ensure minimal lighting to create the perfect ambience.
